Sourcing Through Adversity: How Yahoo!'s Sourcers Shine During the Company's Tough Times (60 minutes)

  • Aida La Chaux photo

Sourcing is essential to driving the recruiting initiatives for companies. In good times, this is a no-brainer. But what happens when your company is going through some difficult — and very public — changes? How will this affect your ability to source, attract, and hire the best people?

In this session, you’ll learn from Yahoo! Senior Manager, Talent Attraction Aida La Chaux how Yahoo! Sourcing Leadership was able to build the team, keep them motivated, produce passive and active leads, engage candidates, and successfully hire during one of the most challenging times at the company. You’ll also learn how the team was able to accomplish this by using tools, creativity, conducting “ sprints,” and other approaches to finding top talent for Yahoo! This is an essential session to attend because no company is immune to difficult times; it’s all about how you work — and lead — through them that determines how you come out on the other side.

The One Best Practice You Can Implement Today for Unbelievable Sourcing Success (60 minutes)

  • Conni LaDouceur photo

You’ve analyzed your ATS, browsed your Boolean, rifled through the resumes, searched the social sites, tweaked the technology…but still can’t locate talent for that hard-to-fill role! Learn critical sourcing survival skills and see how one of the world’s leading sourcing experts employs names found online to strategically and efficiently identify key talent by phone for all industries, all functions, and all levels – worldwide. After this can’t-be-missed session, you will know how to control the information overload and produce the most qualified candidates as efficiently as possible. Experienced recruiters and sourcers alike will be astonished by these direct, ethical, proactive telephone sourcing techniques that will supplement and complete your Internet and database research and deliver the most qualified talent, not the most available talent. Conni will share her passion for the hunt as you discover the lost art of telephone sourcing in a battle to work smarter, not harder.

Are you satisfied with calling only a fraction of the qualified talent pool? Learn how to identify the 34 to 71% of the qualified talent pool that cannot be located by online searching alone. Wouldn’t you rather call 5 highly targeted prospects than call 50 people with whom to network?

This highly-rated program will take a traditional approach to recruiting and turn it on its head by offering several innovative techniques to make you the “go-to” expert at your company. You’ll hear actual recorded\calls demonstrating how quickly, methodically, and easily entire teams of candidates can be identified and mapped, in organization chart form, in a few phone calls. New and seasoned recruiters and sourcers have
said:

• “Great actionable strategies with proven results"
• “Career-changing and immediate ROI!”
• “Loved the tips on how to get around roadblocks and past gatekeepers"
• “Thank you for sharing all you did. I was the one who came into the training against cold-calling and hoping you might change my mind. Well you absolutely did provide the missing puzzle pieces that demonstrated the value and removed the anxiety I had. Many, many sincere thanks!!”

Reduce your sourcing time while increasing your efficiency and effectiveness – and the quality of your results – as you build your personal brand as the Deliverer of Results!

Leading By Example: Understanding the Sourcing Function from a Leader's Perspective (60 minutes)

  • Charles Bretz photo

In order to effectively lead an exceptional sourcing team, you have to have more than a casual understanding of the sourcing function. But how do you understand sourcing if you’ve never been a sourcer yourself? Our response: you listen to and learn from those who have.

In this leadership session, we’ll lift the curtain surrounding sourcing and reveal what you need to know to effectively manage the function. Not only will we review a number of areas that sourcing influences, we’ll also look into what makes sourcers tick and why trying to manage the function in the same manner as a recruiting function will create issues and ultimately lead to sourcing’s demise in your organization.

A former full-life cycle agency recruiter and sourcer for ten years, Charles successfully transitioned to a corporate sourcing leadership role and is currently the Sourcing Manager for a top 10 Accounting and Consulting firm. His background and experiences are sure to provide a unique insight into the sourcing function for this leadership breakout session.

Who's Watching Whom? Tracking Prospects and Influencers Through Your Company's Social Channels (60 minutes)

  • Shannon Myers photo

Social media has brought about a change in the way we conduct a search, network, and publicize opportunities online. More information is available than ever before — but are we harnessing the knowledge we have appropriately to get the most out of the information we already have available? So often we are so focused on finding a specific candidate for a position that we overlook the information we source and fail to capitalize on potential connections: those who are actually searching our profiles, visiting our websites, commenting and reading our blogs and job descriptions, and influencing other possible prospects.

In this session, Shannon will offer attendees some practical suggestions on what and how to monitor and keep track of these ‘outside’ influencers and prospects by leveraging the tools you may already be using.

And for those of you who know Shannon, you know you won’t leave without being shown at least a few fun new tools!

Championing Social Media When Everyone is Lagging Behind: a Healthcare Sourcing Manager’s Organizational Journey through Sourcing Reform (60 minutes)

  • Cathy Henesey photo

Irony comes in many ways, but never as so prevalent as it does in modern medicine. Most healthcare organizations strive for best in service and breakthrough medicine miracles, but when it comes to business processes, they often lag behind those of traditional Fortune 500 companies. Recruiting and sourcing processes, or lack thereof, are no different.

During this session, Cathy will share her experiences in leading the charge to bring social media, sourcing, and process efficiencies into Children’s Medical Center, a leader in pediatrics medicine. Like many healthcare organizations, Children’s Medical Center is rich with tradition and successful ways of doing things, so suggesting change was metwith trepidation, doubt, and skepticism.

Some things that will be covered in this session include:

  • Who should own Social Media — PR, Marketing, or Recruiting?
  • Can traditional recruiters be trained to be social prowlers?
  • Building a sourcing infrastructure without adding headcount
  • Whom do you follow if your competitors aren’t doing it yet?
  • Healthcare does many things right; what can you learn from their traditional ways?

Cathy’s journey will explore the hurdles, setbacks, triumphs, and what has yet to be accomplished as she tracks her path in an industry that seeks modern day solutions. Take these lessons and apply them to other industries as you learn to adapt the next generation of sourcing.

Global "Trust" -- Sourcing Across Multiple Cultures (60 minutes)

  • Adam Lawrence photo

The rapid advancement of technology has accelerated the necessity for companies to develop global Sourcing and Recruitment capabilities in order to access sustainable talent streams that will keep them competitive. But locating talent is only half the battle. There are a number of complex economic, cultural, and social forces that you need to consider and adapt into your Sourcing strategy in order to ensure your success. Adam will share several of his experiences that showcase both the need to be aware of and sensitive to many of the complexities as well as offer some practical perspective and advice to help you avoiding paying what he calls the “dumb tax.” He will also highlight the reality that, regardless of global location, the notion of “trust” underpins our ability to make inroads to and connections with our target candidates.

A Candid Database Discussion: Recruiting, Meet Technology – Without it, You Cannot be Effective (60 minutes)

  • Therese Hightower photo

Technology plays an exceedingly important role in talent acquisition. At the core of our recruiting technology is the place where we store our sourcing and recruiting data. The sad fact, however, is that most of us are using our ATS or CRM technology at a very small percentage of its overall capability. We need to learn how to use these technologies more efficiently as they are a vital part of every successful sourcer’s resource toolbelt. But it starts with knowing what you need (and what you don’t!).

In this panel discussion, four end users, from small companies to large, global enterprises, will reveal why they made their application tracking and candidate relationship management system choices, what made a difference (and what didn’t), and where they’re going next in their technology–recruiting journey. Learn about the exploding need for technology in talent acquisition today and how best to solve that need in YOUR organization.

How to Win the Poker Game of Sourcing and Recruiting (60 minutes)

  • Eric Jaquith photo

Over the past few years, the discussion of candidate qualifications between recruiters and hiring managers during an intake meeting has become much like a Saturday night poker game with friends. The players put on their best “poker face” and devise a strategy that often involves withholding critical information from each other (intentional or not). That lack of critical information dramatically affects the outcome and who “wins.” But winning the poker game of sourcing and recruiting (finding, and then presenting, the right candidate for the right job at the right time, every time) involves much more than simply discussing and looking for required and desired skills…you must know what additional critical information to gather upfront and how to quickly access and utilize it most effectively to win!

Eric will discuss how to “think differently” when playing the game and will share some of his unique “must know” secrets, tips, and tricks. Learn to improve your sourcing skills utilizing the same strategies used to win poker games and dramatically increase your odds of “winning” each time you play!
