How to find a Person’s Exact ZIP Code Using LinkedIn Recruiter

Real Estate Is All About The Location

Have you ever been frustrated with not knowing exactly where someone is located on LinkedIn? Perhaps you wanted someone from the east side of San Francisco Bay, but didn’t trust the radius search? A common problem with a simple solution! Did you know that, with LinkedIn Recruiter, you can find out exactly what zip code someone lives in (or at least what they put into LinkedIn)?

Just as a note: I have only been able to verify this using LinkedIn Recruiter. This does not work with a free LinkedIn Account, and I do not have access to any of the other LinkedIn paid accounts.

There are two ways you can find someone’s ZIP code, using LinkedIn Recruiter.

zip1

1) Hover over the Location information, so in this case hover over “Greater New York City Area.” As you do that, you should see a link at the bottom which will look something like this:

zip3

As you can see, it clearly shows you that this person lives in the 06902 ZIP code!

2. Click on the location, “Greater New York City Area” and it will bring you to an advanced search page like this:

zip2

Knowing how to narrow in on your search is will help you find the right candidate in the right area. If you use a different LinkedIn paid account, please test this for me and let me know if it works!

Randy, nice find — that’s a useful tip when you have a LI profile for someone with a common name and you want a home phone – now you can populate specific town, state and zipcode in any of the online people lookup tools, which helps insure you have the right person among multiple choice.

Hi Randy, I tried this on LinkedIn recruiter twice – once even with my own name. I couldn’t get it to work. They may have locked it down now (?), but thanks anyway!

I just tried it. I show your zipcode as: 80203

Thanks for this info. Just shared this post and someone responded by trying it with their LI Recruiter Lite account, but it didn’t work for them.

We can’t get it to work in Recruiter. When you hover over the city there is no highlight and nothing in the lower status bar. Are we missing something?

Yeap ! same thing just happened to me.. Couldn’t make it work on linkedin recruiter .
