The recruiting landscape changed forever in 2016. As much of a bold statement that is, big moves were made, recruiting giants like Monster and LinkedIn were sold, and trends from leading influencers came true.

Roy Maurer, editor at the Society for Human Resource Management, predicted that employer branding would continue to grow in 2016 and it did. According to LinkedIn’s 2017 Global Recruiting Trends survey, 59 percent of leaders said they would start investing in employer branding. This trend has increased over 10 percent in the last two years. Will employer branding continue to change how companies operate and think about finding new talent?

Jonathan Kestenbaum, executive director at Talent Tech Labs, predicted that companies would start leveraging social recruiting much better than before. This rang true when recruiters started looking at more unconventional methods to find top talent. This included Snapchat, Reddit, Github, and Dribble. The players in the social recruiting space changed drastically in 2016; will they change again in 2017?

And finally, big moves were made. LinkedIn being purchased by Microsoft was just as big of a shock to the recruiting space as Randstad buying Monster. With prediction after prediction after prediction coming true in 2016, what does 2017 have in store for us? Staying ahead of these trends can be a daunting task, but starting small with both strategic and actionable information will help take your recruiting practice to the next level as we start fresh in 2017.
