Most sourcers know that one of the most important components of a well-crafted email lies in the subject line. In fact, 35% of email recipients open email based on the subject line alone. Given this statistic, you can imagine the importance for writing catchy email subject lines. SubjectLine.com is a website that makes it easy and simple to check how suitable your subject line is. Simply enter your subject line and click evaluate and you get a score, marketing information, and their advice.

Subject line – Are you the Michael Jordan of Java Developers?

email

I got a score of 75 which is good. Now look at why. I lost 11 points due to mobile or length. I am content that this subject line isn’t mobile friendly. However, it is best to remember that 35% of business professionals check email on a mobile device.

It is recommended that you use words with less than eight characters, I lost eight points for that. This is bad news for anyone sourcing for an electroneurodiagnostic technician II.

I lost 14 points for not creating a sense of urgency, but I gained four points for using you and you’re, or in other words making it about the candidate.

As you can see, it is a pretty good website that can help you craft better subject lines when reaching out to potential candidates. It also gives you advice on what to do and how to make it better. Their website provides a ton of information on email marketing, mistakes you should avoid, and much more. It is a one-stop shop for email campaigns.

This website features a lot of information on email marketing and subject lines that can be very valuable to sourcers and recruiters alike. Most recently, I have found that mobile is a big deal in email marketing and emails that work on a desktop don’t always work on a mobile device. The first rule of mobile email marketing is to create a subject line that will fit on the mobile screen without scrolling whenever possible. We saw this analysis and best practice in the example that I provided earlier. My subject line was too long, and not mobile friendly.

This is a great website that provides very helpful information and creative ideas on writing subject lines and email marketing. It’s free to use but will require you to enter and email address and phone number after testing multiple subject lines.
