A few of my lucky friends (like Michael Goldberg) have gone live with Linkedin Live. It is LinkedIn’s Video streaming service similar to Facebook Live and Twitch, with a focus on recruiters, content creators, and job seekers. Unfortunately, this tech is only available for some, not all as it is still within the beta stage of development. It looks and moves slick from what I’ve seen, here’s a screenshot from one of the LinkedIn pages:

There are a few steps one must take to sign up for Linkedin Live and keep in mind not everyone will get a seat at this table. I’m jealous of Michael, but he’s such an awesome person that he has given us the pathway to get on it, so I wanted to share it with everyone!

If you haven’t seen some of his recent posts on LinkedIn, he’s candidate focus, and job seeking tips are next level!

Here’s one of his Linkedin Live Broadcasts.

How to Get on the List

First and foremost, you must ask for access.

To put your name on the list, click here!

You’ll need to fill out a form, add some information about the content you have (URL to a live stream you’ve done), as well as standard contact info. Then cross your fingers and wait for a response by the powers that be at LinkedIn. I’m waiting as we speak, and it is driving me nuts, not knowing if I’m going to get a “yes” or “no.”

More Tech Needed

Most streaming tech requires a third-party technology to make it all work. Fortunately, LinkedIn has provided a list of comparative streaming tech that makes this possible.  I’ve used Restream.io on other platforms, it’s recommended by Tris Revill, who was the one who posted about it months back. I know a few people using Streamyard too (which has a free trial). The full list of technologies are here.

From what I’ve seen, the comments come fast and furious, similar to Twitch streams. I have yet to see this from the user side, but if I get the keys to drive LinkedIn Live, expect test streams and full tutorials on how to use it.

For us, video nerds, LinkedIn Live is a very cool thing. I’m glad to see this on the platform; it will help us all connect, communicate, and support one another find great candidates find great jobs.
