There is another new sourcing tool on the block that dubs as a great resourcing tool called “Social Geek.” Social Geek is a chrome extension for referencing users and companies across multiple networking websites. Social Geek allows you to easily and quickly perform research on people you highlight and terms on websites such as; Github, Linkedin, Stack Overflow, Meetup, Quora, and Apache.

What is cool about this is it searches in places and across websites that most other tools do not. It’s also extremely easy to use. Simply highlight what you want to search, click the Social Geek button in your ribbon, and then click the place to search and there you go. In the example below I highlighted our own SourceCon editor Shannon Pritchett in Facebook. I then clicked the Social Geek button and elected to search Linkedin and the results are below.

As you can see it opened a search page with Pritchett as the search term. All I need to do is pick the right user, and there you go, simple, quick and easy. Now, of course, you can do this manually, however, doing it this way saves time and in our industry, time is money, and we all like saving money, don’t we?
