A message from the Editor: SourceCon is starting a new series, #Sourcing4Good. We want to share and highlight the GOOD stories in our industry. We want us all to be reminded of why we are doing what we do, and also bring attention to everyone improving our industry. We are happy to bring attention to the people who deserve it. Happy GOOD sourcing!

Sourcers Helping Sourcers

In the beginning of 2015, the engineering sector in Houston was hit hard with layoffs. Even Recruiters like myself were not safe as several of the engineering recruiters at our agency were sudden laid off. I was shocked, disappointed, angry, and I didn’t know which way to turn…so I turned to the Sourcing Community. One individual in particular, Preston Peery (who I had only spoken on the phone briefly prior), provided me an expansive list of eight different contacts who hired for Sourcers and Recruiters. I was blown away! I never expected an expansive list a few days after it all went down. I’ll never forget the thoughtfulness and generosity he showed that day. Being laid off from any organization can bring a wide array of emotions, but that glimmer of light is sometimes the push we need to transition into the positive. Read more about Greg’s transition here.
