Combining Common Sourcing Tools to Create a Sourcing Solution – Part 7

This is the seventh post in a series of posts on how you can combine tools to create sourcing magic.

A similar concept to the game Yu-Gi-Oh, you can combine tools or cards to create magic. Yu Gi Oh is a card game that is based on a well-known children’s show called Yu Gi Oh. In the show, the good guys battle using cards that when combined with particular hologram technology brings the cards to life. It is based on Egyptian mythology. In the game, Yu-Gi-Oh, there are different kinds of cards; there are Spells, Traps and Monster cards. In some cases, you can combine these cards to do something extraordinary. One such example is the powering up of an excellent card called Explosive Magician (EM). EM gets 1,000 more attack point for every spell counter attached to him. If you have another card called Magician Exemplar and play the magic card Book of Moon, she gets five spell counters that she can then add to EM giving him 5,000 more attack points making him nearly unstoppable. Sourcing can be similar if specific tools are working together to create a winning sourcing strategy that creates sourcing magic.

For example, let’s say we use the tool Seekout which is a new tool that allows you to search for their over 103 million records gathered through open source social aggregating. You can then download the results to a CSV file, which will include email addresses wherever possible. You have numerous search functions such as; name, current or past companies, education, location, experience level, current or past title, school, diversity, degree, major, company size, industry, certifications, languages, groups, and much more. So now you have a nice list of candidates for your opening. The list will include name, company, title, location, education, and email if they have one, and a lot more. This is called an enhanced list as it includes more than just names and titles it contains emails and more.

However, no tool is 100% reliable on its own, and let’s say there are about 30 names without emails. You can then take the CSV file and upload it to another tool called TOOFR, and it will find the missing emails. Now, keep in mind TOOFR will be finding work emails. Also with TOOFR, you can pull emails from a given web page, buy or sell lists of emails, scrape names from a web page, get company data, test emails, and much more. Now you have a list with emails for everyone that you can upload to your ATS or CRM and start contacting.

So let’s go through this step by step.

  1. Step one – you source on Seekout to get your enhanced list.
  2. Step two – you download your list.
  3. Step three – you upload the list to TOOFR for further enhancement.
  4. Step four – you download the final improved list.
  5. Step five –  you upload to your ATS/CRM.
  6. Step six – you start contacting your candidate pool.
