Have you ever been frustrated with not knowing exactly where someone is located on LinkedIn? Perhaps you wanted someone from the east side of San Francisco Bay, but didn’t trust the radius search? A common problem with a simple solution! Did you know that, with LinkedIn Recruiter, you can find out exactly what zip code someone lives in (or at least what they put into LinkedIn)?
Just as a note: I have only been able to verify this using LinkedIn Recruiter. This does not work with a free LinkedIn Account, and I do not have access to any of the other LinkedIn paid accounts.
There are two ways you can find someone’s ZIP code, using LinkedIn Recruiter.
1) Hover over the Location information, so in this case hover over “Greater New York City Area.” As you do that, you should see a link at the bottom which will look something like this:
As you can see, it clearly shows you that this person lives in the 06902 ZIP code!
2. Click on the location, “Greater New York City Area” and it will bring you to an advanced search page like this:
Knowing how to narrow in on your search is will help you find the right candidate in the right area. If you use a different LinkedIn paid account, please test this for me and let me know if it works!
